Using the concept of a compass is a simple and holistic way to keep basic elements of our health and well-being in mind, enabling us to check in with our progress each day.
We use the N of North to remind us of Nutrition, to consider what we're eating, how much we're eating, how often and at what time of day, as well as the nutritional value of the foods we ingest. This element can also include the supplements we take.
The S of South refers to Sleep. It can also include other relaxation or meditation methods. We might consider what time we are going to sleep and rising. How is the quality of our sleep and what might improve it? Do we need more or less sleep? Might regular meditation be helpful?
East is for Exercise and allows us to reflect on how much exercise we get daily and whether we need to improve in this area of our lives.
And, finally, West is for Water, or hydration. How much water are we drinking daily, and is it enough to adequately hydrate the body?
By reflecting daily on our compass we can begin to improve on a few basic but critical health areas.
